Time To Move On!

There comes a time when you need to say “screw it” and move on to your next venture! To many people who have so much to offer are stuck in dead end jobs and are not motivated going to work. Others are at jobs where they have kicked ass and hit the growth ceiling, they to need to recognize when its time to throw in the towel and make that move. Its scary yes, but you will never know what is out there for you if you don’t take that chance.

My son graduated this year with a degree in Exercise Science and this summer he asked me if it was ok to go back to school to get a degree in Diesel Mechanics Engineering. I told him, you’re 22 years old and you have the rest of your life to figure out what motivates you, to be the best version of you. If you have a plan and that includes an education in Diesel Engines to go along with your degree in Exercise Science as well as you joy in fly fishing & bow hunting, then go for it!

So while in school his schedule looks like this 5 days a week:

  1. Wake at 5:00AM
  2. Work at a diesel engine shop  7:00AM to 12:30PM
  3. 1:30-5:30PM Diesel Engineer School
  4. 6:00-8:00PM trains himself & clients

From Monday to Friday he has maintained this schedule for the last 6 months. He has not missed one minute of work or school. Now thats discipline! When I was 22 years old I had nowhere near such discipline!

Getting comfortable creates such a lack of desire to go after anything! Comfortable at work, comfortable at home, comfortable in the gym, comfortable with your friends! In this mode, you can notice how little motivation you have in your daily life. Me, I want to wake up, live outside my comfort zone and shock the shit out of the world with great things!

When you’re comfortable and have little or no motivation look at who your lack of drive effects, your significant other, your kids, your boss (no raise?) and your friends. Make a change and every day set one simple goal that takes you outside your comfort zone and go for it!
