As my children grew into young adults I always felt the need to support and educate them on my opinion of life’s journey. After an amazing summer I now realize that it is my “young adult” children are the ones schooling me on life, what life has to offer, how to take advantage of what life has to offer and how not to give up.
Our oldest, so very young and wise yet an old sole at heart. She knows what she wants and she will always be there for you. Now she wants to travel the world to open her heart to what it has to offer. I realize she is doing things in such a organized controlled way that she no longer needs my help, yet always asks my opinion.
Our middle, not the middle child you would expect, is faith driven, caring and will definitely let you know whats on her mind good, bad or indifferent. She, to will always be there for you and will never let anything make her quit! I saw this last week when only after two weeks of a structured swim program she jumped in the Jacksonville River and swam a 10k with her swim group. I, on the paddle board, expecting many breaks, was so impressed when three out of the six times she did stop, it was to tell me to stop calling her name and asking if she needed a break. She did it, no questions asked!!
Our youngest, he to is driven in so many ways but loves the peace and tranquility of sitting in a tree stand waiting for the big buck or mule elk to pass under him so he can get a closer look. If not in the woods he is in a river or on the beach fly fishing for bone fish or trout. Our son, like his two sisters is a planner, he takes his time to make sure he is completely ready for the next adventure he is going on.
If their Mom or I happen to take on a challenge you better be sure they are gonna find a way to jump in and accept that challenge with us. But the one thing I was never good at was taking my time to plan things out to make the right moves at the right time. However today, because of the lessons they are teaching me, which they don’t realize, I am learning how to plan, stick with it and know that I really need to live in the moment.
I love you guys, thank you!
I learn from your fantastic kiddos too Mike! I look forward to the days when Hannah will be teaching me life lessons as well. Love to you all! Jessica
